Sunday 1st March 2026, at 17.00hrs entries open for the 2027 Hardmoors 15 & 30 trail races. Both races will take place on Saturday 9th January 2027. They are extremely popular events and being so close to the New Year places will sell out very quickly. Saturday and Sunday 07th and 08th March 2026 is the Trail Outlaws 'Kielder Dark Skies' weekend. Boasting a 10km, 11 mile and marathon this is an extremely popular event. Good luck to Jonny Parker who has entered the double (marathon + 10km) and Jon Daniels who has entered the marathon and David Edwards who has entered the 11 mile event.  For full details please click the button below for details...

Sunday 08th March 2026 - The Kingdom of Northumbria Coastal Ultra - Wild Deer Events. Good luck to Nathan Somersall who is competing in the 54km event. This event also has a 27km race.  The event is now full. Click below for details...


Thursday 12th March 2026 - Thursday night monthly 'away day'. This month we are meeting at 6.30pm at 'The Shepherd and Shepherdess' pub, Beamish postcode DH90RS next to the Beamish Museum entrance. A 5-6mile run through the woodland making the most of the darkness before the clocks go forward at the end of the month. 


Saturday 14th March 2026 - Chopwell Woods parkrun. Paul Feeley is the run director for this event.  Twisted Trails events are launching their new 10km trail event 'The Chopwell Gambit' after parkrun. If you would like to participate in the promotional photo shoot and would be happy to stay back for half an hour after parkrun, Twisted Trails in exchange will give you 50% off entry to the event. Sunday 15th March 2026 is a DVTR club social run at Thrunton Woods in Northumberland. Start time is 7.30am over a 10.5 mile route, elevation of 1600 feet which should take about 2hrs. Best bit is the coffee/breakfast/cake at 'Pedalling Square' in Swalwell afterwards. If you are going can you drop a message to Jonny Parker via our Messenger group chat so that car sharing arrangements can be made. 


Saturday 21st March 2026 is the last NEHL (North-East Harrier League) cross country fixture located at Eltringham, which is a new location for the 2025/26 season.  Click below for details....


Saturday 21st March 2026 - congratulations to Jordan Rumbles who finished 1st at Chopwell Wood parkrun in a time of 20mins 14secs and to Katie Purvis who finished 6th (1st female) in a time of 23mins 53secs at the same event.


Sunday 22nd March 2026 is the Northern Fell Runners Event 'The Pendulum'. This is an 11 mile race on the Cheviot Hills boasting 3689 feet of elevation to climb. Sounds fun. Good luck to club member Tom King who has entered the race.

Congratulations to Tom King who completed the race in 3hrs 38mins finishing in 77th position from a field of 89 runners.


Saturday 28th March 2026 is the 'Dalesrunner' 20km Fell Race. The race is on a marked course and starts and finishes in Reeth, North Yorkshire (Barnard Castle/Richmond area). The website states: 'A very hilly route mostly on single track, with a very steep first ascent and some spectacular technical descents including one down a set of hushes the race is on the fringes of being able to call itself a fell race.' Good luck to Paul Feeley, Jordan Rumbles and Katie Purvis who have entered the race. The entry price is £24 for anybody interested and a further £10 for a t-shirt. 

Congratulations to Katie Purvis who was the first female in the Fremlington Frenzy 11km Fell Race finishing in a time of 1he 16mins. Meanwhile in the Dalesrunner 20km fell race Jordan Rumbles finished in 10th place in a time of 1hr 51mins with Paul Feeley finishing in 43rd place in a time of 2hrs 23mins from a field of 124 runners.
