Training

All of our training sessions are led by England Athletics LiRF qualified run leaders. We encourage people to come along and run with the club for a number of sessions before deciding whether to commit to membership. We run as a group led by run leaders who ensure that nobody gets left behind. The majority of our club sessions start and finish in the carpark outside the Dipton Surgery on the Front Street in Dipton, County Durham.

Please check in advance if you would like to come along to one of our sessions, as although we normally meet outside the Dipton Surgery, occasionally we have an away day and choose to meet in  an alternative location.

Tuesday training 6.30pm

The Tuesday club session always starts from the Dipton Surgery carpark. These are structured run training sessions designed to improve specific aspects of your running — such as endurance, speed, strength, and technique — through planned drills and varied intensities. They provide a framework that helps runners progress more effectively than just running at the same pace or distance every time.

Thursday training 6.30pm

The Thursday club session is a group social run exploring the Derwent Valley. A group social run is less about structured training and more about community, enjoyment, and shared movement. It is designed to bring runners together in a relaxed, inclusive setting where the focus is on connection rather than performance.

Runs are usually at a conversational pace, so everyone can talk and stay together as one group. The emphasis is on camaraderie, encouragement, and making running fun.
